Tenrikyo Dynamic Mission - WORLDLY COMMON - TRUTHS OF THE WORLD - Pg. 10
"What I Have Learned "
This universe is the body of god.
Ponder this in all matters.
- I have learned that I was raised to have at my
disposal a number of principle truths to use as foundations for the
reasoning behind my everyday worldly common thinking.
- Perhaps the most important of the truths taught to me a child
were of a moral and ethical nature and were justified by
supernatural truths that were and continue to be characteristic
worldly common truths of my society and culture.
- I did not choose the principle worldly common truths of the
world that I was taught as a
child, they were selected for me.
- The natural process of teaching moral and ethical truths to
children has gone on all over the world and through all ages and
similarly were and are justified by supernatural truths that are
characteristic of the society and culture that holds them to be
true.
- Experience has shown that no two human minds are exactly the
same. Also no two cultures are the same otherwise by definition they
would not be distinct cultures. This difference leads to
confrontations between moral and ethical truths has held by various
individuals and cultures.
- Historically, the integrity of the moral and ethical truths of
any given culture has been attempted to be maintained through the
use of conditioning, intimidation and force.
- The use of conditioning, intimidation and force either between individuals or
between cultures has historically been shown to result in
a degree of stability in various societies and cultures but has in
many cases has resulted in unnecessary and unintentional suffering.
- After looking all over the world and through all ages and
pondering it is apparent that the true foundations and principles
created in the human imagination are in fact unstable as it is clear
that none of them, neither scientific nor supernatural have
persisted through time. All have been subject to change even though
all of the changes have met with stiff resistance.
- Upon reflection it appears to me that selfishness, greed and the
intended or unintended exploitation of the inability of the human
imagination to distinguish between the original truth, that is our
original consciousness - metaphorically "Nihon"- and
the many and changing truths of the world that are created by our powerful human imaginations
- metaphorically "Kara" - are at the
root of all human suffering.
- I have learned that all of my worldly common thoughts accumulate on
the foundation of a single thought that can be described as the
understanding that "I am this body" or "this is my body".
- I have learned that if I would like to know and understand the
truth of myself - who I am beneath all of the imagined self centered
truths that have accumulated as my self imagine and which in many
cases are truths that I did not even choose for myself - I will have
to find the means to quickly and temporarily turn off, clear or
settle my self centered imagination even down to the idea of being
and owning
a separate body and then compare the original conscious truth that remains
with the imagined truths that had previously made up my self image.
- I have learned that the recollection of single heartedness with
the original mind of God - metaphorically known as the "mind like
clear water" - is pondered and compared with the self centered
imagination the distinction can be savored as the knowledge and
understanding of original cause of all things in detail and the
foundation for a new, free and unlimited self centered imagination.
- I have learned that the total replacement of a self-centered
imagination that does not know its true origin, with a self centered
imagination that through single
heartedness both knows and understands it true origin is intended to be the
one and only foundation of a free and unlimited joyous experience of life.
- I have learned that intentional single-heartedness with the truth of
our origin is difficult and tricky because of our worldly common
tendency to convert everything that we see, hear and do into worldly
common understandings and truths of the world. Which explains why even
those who heard the teaching of single heartedness with the original
cause of all things directly from the truth of origin, the original
parental mind of all things were unable to comply with the instructions
and quickly awaken.
- I have learned that the truth of our origin is not a worldly
common truth dreamed up in a human imagination. It is what remains
when the human imagination is totally settled, "like clear water".
I have already told you and told you what is known to Me
The teachings have been told, but you know not what they mean.
Until now,
though I have repeatedly taught the truth
step by step, you do not understand the core.
If your sincerity does not accord with the mind of God,
in vain is devotion, however great it may be.
And so goes the regret of our parent of origin concerning the unintended
consequences of worldly common thinking and the truths of the world that
flow from it.
